W Taipei is an artistic icon smacked right in the heart of the exhilarating Xinyi district. The hotel’s perfect location allows guests to conquer the city’s fabulous fashion, vibrant night life and exciting commerce. There are 405 dreamy rooms adorned with the signature W bed, and fortunately, we were hosted in one of their Fantastic Suites. Here’s a review on my experiences at W Taipei, and you’ll know why I love this hotel so much!

THE FANTASTIC SUITE

We felt as though we were entering a luxurious paradise upon stepping into the room. The living area is separated from the bedroom, and the sofa is huge and so comfortable that we were tempted to just laze around in the room for the entire day. The 52-inch flat screen LCD TV with the Bose 2.1 sound system placed in the living area further entices us to chill in the room over a movie or drama. There’s also a 42-inch flat screen LCD TV in the bedroom.

This wonderful suite boasts exclusive views of Taipei 101 tower from both the living area and the bathroom. Enjoy a bubble bath after an exhausting day out exploring the city while admiring Taipei’s skyline. The wooden ladder for hanging towels features a lovely design.

We really like the floor to ceiling wall high lantern design which was inspired by the Taiwan sky lanterns too. Have fun spotting the W-Animal sculpture that was inspired by the Chinese Zodiac characters. There’s also a free standing mini bar in the cabinet.

THE WET POOL & BAR

Open as early as 6am, you can squeeze in a morning swim before beginning your itinerary for the day. I took it as a form of exercise after feasting on too much delectable street food in Taipei. There’s the larger-than-life stainless steel water droplet sculptures anchored at one end of the pool, making the surroundings more attractive. The pool is 25-metres by 6.5-metres, and is heated. Set against the spectacular Xinyi district with sweeping city views, this is a surreal spot for basking in the sun. You can also relax on the deckchairs while enjoying a refreshing cocktail.

THE KITCHEN TABLE

Located on the same floor as the WET Pool & Bar, The Kitchen Table exudes a relaxing and lively vibe. They have taken the city’s food culture to the next level, and you can prepare your palates for a gastronomical experience from breakfast to dinner. Look forward to indulging in your favourite flavours from every corner of the world.

We enjoyed their extensive breakfast buffet spread which features a bread counter, sushi counter, traditional Taiwan street food counter, among many other delicious food. Do save some stomach space for their ice cream and sorbets. We really liked the melon-flavoured ice cream!

THE LOCATION

The trendy Uni-Ustyle department store is just below W Taipei, and the world-class malls are connected by a suspended footbridge. It is a great opportunity for you to get your shopping spree started almost immediately! Major attractions such as Taipei 101 (one of the world’s tallest building with an 89th floor observatory), Taipei City Hall, and Taipei World Trade Centre are merely minutes away. Don’t worry if you’ve got your sights set farther – the City Hall MRT stop is just right below the hotel.

There’s always a party going on in this district, almost as though the city never sleeps. After dark, the city’s fashionistas and stars come out to socialize at the hottest nightlife spots in town. Open your eyes wider, and see if you’re lucky enough to be rubbing shoulders with a few popular celebrities.

If you decide not to unleash your inner wild child, you can head to Tong Hua Night Market which is about 8 minutes’ drive away for a variety of Taipei’s most popular street food. I was surprised to see the young and old locals mingle around at this night market. The young crowd comes here for trendy clothing while the older generation comes here to purchase their daily necessities. Among the mouthwatering dishes sold here, one can find 甜不辣 (Taiwanese Tempura), oyster omelette, beef noodles, barbequed sausages, fried chicken feet, braised duck tongue and just about anything else you may be hungering for.

We felt like princesses being pampered when staying at W Taipei. With its ideal location, easy accessibility, amazing rooms, great food, and numerous amenities, W Taipei is the perfect place to relax and rejuvenate. Besides, their service is tip-top, and you can request for whatever you desire, whenever you need. We enjoyed our stay very much!
