I woke up at 6.30am for the 1-hour swimming exercises organized daily for hotel guests at @thegayahotel. I really enjoyed the swimming pool exercises in the morning because firstly, I didn’t perspire in the water and it actually felt relaxing even though I was working out, and secondly, it totally woke my system up, making me feel so fresh in the morning. Thanks to the Running Man Korean variety show, I learnt about the man-made gondola at Timang Beach in Yogyakarta. The gondola is built from wood, ropes and metal pulleys. Sounds dubious right?! Well, I took it courageously and felt pretty safe. The waves were huge, and in my opinion, it felt more frightening to cross the suspension bridge. Instead of playing “Where’s Wally?”, try “Where’s Alexis?” You can experience a little slice of Bali nestled in a lagoon in Kenting. It’s so hidden that you won’t be able to locate this place on Google Maps. I’m so glad that the local Taiwanese driver whom I hired knows about this secret spot, hence I got the opportunity to visit it. There is no designated parking lots and you have to simply park along the roadside. Good news is that it only takes approximately 5 minutes to walk to the beach. The coral reef separates the lagoon from the ocean, creating several deep pools and two small shell beaches. Swimming and snorkeling are allowed here. The rock formations are pretty unique, and I can safely rank Little Bali Bay as my number one favourite beach in Kenting. Hiking the Mount Batur Sunrise Trail in Bali is one of the most magical way to start the day. At 1,717 metres above sea level, it takes around 2 hours to ascend the peak. Besides creepy crawlies and heights, I’m also afraid of the dark, so I felt a little terrified starting the climb in the pitch black, not knowing what surrounded me. The route gets steeper and slippery as you go higher, but upon reaching the summit, I was rewarded by the stunning view. The thick blanket of darkness was replaced by soft, dreamy, purplish-pink hues before glistening orange and gold rays lit the sky up. I love this sense of accomplishment.
