Hotel Indigo Kaohsiung Central Park – 7 Reasons Why I’m In Love With This Hotel
May 21, 2018

With the Port of Kaohsiung being Taiwan’s largest container port and the sixth largest in the world, Kaohsiung is known as the “Harbour Capital” of Taiwan. The history of Kaohsiung’s shipping industry is so interesting that Hotel Indigo Kaohsiung Central Park decided to align its interior designs to the rich culture. They combined the traditional shipping aspects with the contemporary artistic and colourful culture of today’s Kaohsiung. Here are 7 reasons why Hotel Indigo Kaohsiung Central Park captivated my heart.
#1 – Vibrant & Welcoming Atmosphere
Upon entering Hotel Indigo Kaohsiung Central Park, you’ll notice the presence of a ship with an anchor and a corner with many stamps you can use on your notebooks as souvenirs. The unique purple velvet sofa and the metal fish netting separating the lobby from the café are so eye-catching too. The huge reception desk is made up of many drawers painted in a pretty shade of pink. The hotel has married Kaohsiung’s traditional history with its modern culture to come up with these creative and colourful designs. The vibrant vibes create a happy and lively atmosphere, and I personally felt very welcomed the moment I entered the hotel.
#2 – Homely & Comfortable Rooms
The rooms at Hotel Indigo Kaohsiung Central Park follow different themes, and I stayed at the one with designs inspired by cargo ships. The bed is so comfortable and the linen so soft I wished I could sleep in all day long (well, I would if I wasn’t there for work). There’s even a mini living room for me to relax on the sofa with a cup of coffee in the morning. The other guestrooms also feel cozy, with oversized beds, high-speed Internet access, and signature art works.
#3 – Luxurious Bathrooms
The spa-inspired bathrooms at Hotel Indigo Kaohsiung Central Park are specially designed with glass-enclosed walk-in showers, rainfall-like and/or handheld showerheads, and quality brand bathroom amenities. I enjoyed taking a bubble bath in the big, luxurious bathtub. The blue tiles and warm lighting made me feel so relaxed while taking the bubble bath. After staying at so many hotels, I’ve to say that Hotel Indigo Kaohsiung Central Park’s bathroom is one of the most spacious bathroom I’ve come across.
#4 – Rooftop Bar with Stunning Views
The rooftop bar offers a plethora of cocktails, alcohols and non-alcoholic drinks. You can pair the drinks with delicious bar bites while enjoying the cooling night breeze and the beautiful view of Kaohsiung city. This is a great place for locals to unwind after a long day at work, and for friends and families to catch up on each other’s lives.
#5 – Plenty of Food Choices at the Lobby Café & the Restaurant
If you are too exhausted from exploring the city, you can find comfort food at the lobby café. They serve sandwiches, sweet treats and some sinful yet comforting mains such as the Mac & Cheese. Refreshing beverages such as juices and smoothies are available as well.
Buffet breakfast is served at the restaurant on the second floor of Hotel Indigo Kaohsiung Central Park. What surprised me about the buffet spread is that it includes one main course of your choice between the seafood noodles, the Takao seafood porridge, the noodles served with shrimps and minced pork, and the grilled pork on rice which I had. Lunch and dinner menus are available too. I’ll review on the dinner in the next article.
#6 – Conveniently Located
Hotel Indigo Kaohsiung Central Park is directly beside the Xinjuejiang Shopping District where you can shop till you drop, and there are many eateries around the area where you can try local cuisine. The Ling Ya Night Market and the Liuhe Night Market are just a stone’s throw away, and I highly recommend visiting the Ling Ya Night Market because it has many scrumptious foods. If you just want to relax, cross the road and you’ll arrive at the Kaohsiung Central Park. The fresh blossoms and lush greenery create a serene environment.
#7 – Easily Accessible by Public Transport
Last but not least, the hotel can be easily reached by Kaohsiung Central Park Station. The station lies on the same MRT line as the Kaohsiung International Airport, the Kaohsiung Main Station, and the Zuoying Station where you can catch the high-speed rails to Taipei city and other parts of Taiwan.
Have I convinced you enough to book your vacation in Kaohsiung with Hotel Indigo yet? Well, I would gladly stay at this hotel again if I visit Kaohsiung the next time.
