amba Taipei Zhongshan – 5 Reasons to Entice You to Plan a Staycation at this Boutique Hotel

amba Taipei Zhongshan – 5 Reasons to Entice You to Plan a Staycation at this Boutique Hotel

August 17, 2019

Two years ago, Jayden and I did a half-island self-drive trip around Taiwan and we spent a couple of nights at amba Taipei Zhongshan. This time round, I visited Taipei solo for work purposes and decided to check out another room type. Their restaurant, Buttermilk, has also revamped their menu with a new chef who has a creative mind. I’ve shortlisted the top 5 reasons from my experiences which hopefully, will help you in making a decision on your choice of accommodation in Taipei.

#1 – The Balcony Room Boasts an Interesting View of the Local Housing Estate

For a solo traveller, the Balcony Room is extremely spacious with a huge bed that’s able to fit probably four persons. This room is ideal for families with two adults and two children aged 12 or below based on amba Taipei Zhongshan’s existing bedding. The outdoor terrace has a table and chairs for you to relax with a simple breakfast in the morning or unwind with the famous Taiwanese beer in the evening. There are floor to ceiling windows to ensure the room is brightly lit by natural light. The efficient workplace is thoughtfully positioned with good lighting and Low-E glass is used for maximising light while minimising ultraviolet and infrared rays.

You also get to enjoy other room features such as free wired and smart WiFi, the 42-inch Sony Bravia Full HD Internet TV complete with built-in Facebook, Youtube, Skype, photo sharing, music and other entertainment connections, a wireless Bluetooth speaker, conveniently located 110V universal power outlets, three USD charging ports including two on the phone, and many others.

As for the bathroom, the shower is separate from the TOTO washlet and there is a dual Ecostat Comfort rain shower and massage showerheads for a revitalising yet eco-friendly shower experience. Furthermore, the oversized bathroom vanity is great for ladies, especially if you have many belongings.

#2 – There is a Communal Area on Every Floor

The communal area located on every floor has its own theme and design. You can catch up with your loved ones, or hold a business meeting with your client. You can also rent board games such as Chinese Chess, Jenga, Monopoly, and playing cards, just to name a few, from amba Taipei Zhongshan and have a fun time with your loved ones.

#3 – Easily Accessible by Public Transport

amba Taipei Zhongshan is located near two metro stations, namely Shuanglian and Zhongshan. It is only one metro stop to Taipei Main Station for the Taiwan High Speed Rail and Taiwan Railway. If you take the taxi, it’s a mere 10 minutes’ drive to the vibrant Ximending neighbourhood, around 15 minutes’ drive to Taipei Songshan Airport, and approximately 20 minutes’ drive to Taipei 101 and Taipei World Trade Centre.

#4 – Plenty of Food Choices Around Zhongshan

Besides savouring fresh produce from the morning markets and indulging in street food at the night markets, there is a range of restaurants where you can dine at around the amba Taipei Zhongshan’s neighbourhood. You can even consider chilling at Buttermilk restaurant, located on the lobby level of the hotel. Look forward to nostalgic classics from the southern states, healthy superfood bowls and ceviches, charcuterie boards, prime steaks, hand-crafted beer, new world wines by the glass, and decadent desserts.

#5 – Explore Off The Beaten Path

There are so many touristic spots in Taipei city, but if you’re more interested in Taipei’s culture and heritage, take a look at some decades-old establishments around amba Taipei Zhongshan. Ri Xing Type Foundry (日星鑄字行), established in 1969, is the only type foundry still producing and selling in Taiwan. It is said to be the only foundry in the world with a full set of printed style writing, Song font, and Gothic traditional Chinese characters. Lin Tien Coopery (林田桶店), established in 1928, produces wooden buckets of various sizes. These wooden buckets used to be an essential item for every Taiwanese household in the past. You can also check out MOCA Museum of Contemporary Art, SPOT Taipei Film House, and other attractions with historical value.
